Ecommerce · WooCommerce variations
WooCommerce variable product CSV checker.
Variations are where WooCommerce imports go wrong. Open your CSV and check the variable rows, variation rows, Parent links and attribute values. Nothing is uploaded.
What is checked, and where each rule comes from
Rules were read from the official WooCommerce pages below on 2026-10-18. Only the variation rules from WooCommerce's importer documentation are reported here; use the full WooCommerce CSV validator for everything else. Parent: a variation row links to its parent by parent SKU, or by ID prefixed with id:; the file needs a Parent column and each variation needs a value. One value: on a variation row each Attribute value(s) cell takes a single value; the comma-separated list belongs on the variable parent. Match: the documentation says variations whose attribute values do not match the parent are not created, so when the parent is in the same file the value is compared with its list (case-insensitive). If the parent is not in the file (it may already be in your store) you get a note. SKU: each new variation needs a unique SKU. Stock: parent is documented for variations that inherit stock.

Frequently asked questions
How do I link a variation to its variable product in the CSV?
Put the variable product's SKU in the variation row's Parent column, or its ID with an id: prefix, and set Type to variation.
Why is my variation not created?
The documentation says variation rows whose attribute values do not match the parent are not created. Check that the variation's single value appears in the parent row's Attribute value(s) list.
Can a variation list several values in one attribute cell?
No. Variation rows take one value per attribute; the full comma-separated list is on the variable parent row.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
