CRPO Registrant Search Ontario.
The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario publishes a public register. This guide explains the statuses it lists so you can read a result correctly.
Use the CRPO public register for the answer. This page does not look anyone up and cannot confirm registration.
What the CRPO public register covers
The register page offers fields for registration number, first name, last name and city. CRPO also describes searching by language, province or state and postal code on its status-check page. Home addresses are not public unless the registrant practises from home.
CRPO says a profile may not appear if your search includes an address the registrant has not reported, and that if a member is not currently practising their profile will not appear when a city, province or postal code is included. If a name search finds nothing, try again with the name only.
Registrants who chose not to publish a language of practice do not appear in a language filter. For care in a language other than English, CRPO says to email it for a list of providers.
Open the official register
According to CRPO, a profile shows basic information (name, commonly used name, previous names), business address and practice sites, registration category and date, practice limits or conditions, suspensions, professional conduct concerns, professional corporations and other regulatory licences. It does not show home addresses, job titles, credentials or Quality Assurance information.
The nine status labels CRPO lists
- Registered Psychotherapist, practising while working toward independent practice
- Registered Psychotherapist, authorized for independent practice
- Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
- Registered Psychotherapist (Temporary)
- Registered Psychotherapist (Inactive)
- Suspended
- Revoked
- Former registrant
- Expired
CRPO says suspended individuals are not permitted to use any restricted title, and that inactive registrants cannot claim any competence in psychotherapy. Registered Psychotherapists are required to display specific credentials next to their name, such as “RP (Registered Psychotherapist)”.
Why you would check a psychotherapist
Therapy is often arranged online or by referral, and many titles sound similar. Counsellor, therapist and psychotherapist are not interchangeable. Checking the register tells you whether a person holds the restricted title and in what category.
Employers, insurers and clients also use the register to confirm status before relying on a receipt or report. Status changes, so a screenshot from last year does not prove current standing.
Impersonator and scam check
- Compare the credential written after the name with the register. A person using “RP” should appear as a Registered Psychotherapist in an appropriate category.
- A Suspended, Revoked, Former or Expired label means the person should not be presenting as a current registrant.
- “Qualifying” and “Temporary” are different categories from independent practice. Read the full label, not the first two words.
- Reach the register through the button here or by typing the address, not through a link inside a message that urges you to act quickly.

Frequently asked questions
What does a CRPO registration number look like?
CRPO lets you search by registration number but its status-check page does not describe a format. Do not rely on a number alone; confirm the name and category on the register.
What can I search for on the CRPO register?
Registration number, first name, last name and city on the register page, with language, province or state and postal code described on CRPO’s status-check page.
Why can I not find a registrant I know is real?
CRPO says profiles may not appear if the search includes an unreported address, or a city or postal code when the member is not currently practising. Search by name only.
Can this page confirm a therapist is registered?
No. It queries nothing and cannot confirm status. Use the CRPO public register.
Guide only — not a verification tool
This page is an independent guide that links to the official register. TNAADO is not affiliated with the regulator. It does not check anyone’s registration, implies no official verification, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Use the official register to confirm current status; this page cannot confirm it.
