CPA Alberta directory lookup.
CPA Alberta runs separate verification registers for members, firms and CPA professional corporations. This page explains which to use and links to each live search.
Use the official register for the answer: CPA Alberta’s registers are searched on its site. This page cannot confirm anyone’s membership or registration; use the CPA Alberta result. It cannot confirm anyone’s status.
What the register covers
- Member register — for an individual who says they are a CPA in Alberta.
- Firm register — for an accounting firm registered with CPA Alberta.
- Professional corporation register — for a CPA professional corporation.
- Title rules — CPA Alberta says anyone in Alberta can call themselves an “accountant” without being registered; only members who meet its standards may use the “Chartered Professional Accountant” title.
Directories are the regulator’s own and can lag; being listed does not by itself guarantee good standing. Contact the regulator to confirm status.

Why “accountant” is not enough
Because the word “accountant” is not restricted in Alberta, a business card or website saying “accountant” tells you nothing about registration. The CPA designation is what the register can confirm, so ask for the person’s full legal name and the firm name before you search.
If your search returns nothing
CPA Alberta’s page suggests trying again without entering a city. Also try the legal name rather than a nickname, and check whether the person is registered in another province.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I verify a CPA in Alberta?
On CPA Alberta’s Verify a Member or Firm page, which links to separate member, firm and CPA professional corporation registers.
Can anyone in Alberta call themselves an accountant?
Yes, according to CPA Alberta. Only members who meet its standards may use the Chartered Professional Accountant title, which is why you verify the CPA designation specifically.
My search found nobody. What now?
CPA Alberta suggests retrying without a city. Then try a different spelling or the legal name, and use CPA Alberta’s contact page if you still need a status confirmed.
Does the register show discipline?
CPA Alberta publishes conduct and discipline decisions in a separate section of its website; the verification registers are the place to confirm registration, not to read a complaints history.
Guide only — not a verification tool
This page describes the register and links to it. It does not check anyone’s membership, it does not copy or proxy any register data, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Use the official register to confirm status. Not legal or professional advice.
