CPA lookup for the Atlantic provinces: four registers.

There is no single Atlantic CPA register. CPA Nova Scotia, CPA New Brunswick, CPA Newfoundland and Labrador and CPA Prince Edward Island each run their own member, firm and public practice directories.

Use the official register for the answer: Pick the province where the CPA works or is registered and search that body’s directory. This page cannot confirm anyone’s membership or licence. It cannot confirm anyone’s status.

What the register covers

  • Nova Scotia — the membership directory lists active members in good standing and can be filtered by name, city or public accounting licence type. Separate firm and public accounting licence directories exist, plus a resigned member directory.
  • New Brunswick — the member directory lists members and their city or town, and says many listed members do not serve the public and it does not show whether a member may engage in public practice. Use the Firm and Public Practice Permit Holder directories for that.
  • Newfoundland and Labrador — the member directory lists members and city/town; it does not say who may engage in public practice. A Licenced Public Accountant Directory covers members licensed for audit and/or review, plus firm and professional corporation directories.
  • Prince Edward Island — the member directory lists members and city/town; the Public Practice License Holder Directory and Firm Directory are separate searches.

Directories are the regulator’s own and can lag; being listed does not by itself guarantee good standing. Contact the regulator to confirm status.

Four bodies, four searches

CPA Nova Scotia, CPA New Brunswick, CPA Newfoundland and Labrador and CPA Prince Edward Island each regulate their own members. A CPA working in one province may be registered with a different body, so if a name is missing, try the neighbouring provinces too.

Member vs public practice

In New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and PEI, the general member directory states that it does not tell you whether a member is permitted to engage in public practice. If you need audit, review or compilation work, search the province’s separate licence or permit holder directory and the firm directory as well.

Directories are the regulator’s own and can lag; being listed does not by itself guarantee good standing. Contact the regulator to confirm status. CPA New Brunswick, CPA Newfoundland and Labrador and CPA PEI each state they make no representations or warranties as to the accuracy, reliability or completeness of their directories, and that directory content may not be used for commercial or solicitation purposes.

Frequently asked questions

Is there one CPA Atlantic register?

No. Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island each have their own CPA body and directories.

Which directory shows who can do audits or reviews?

Use each province’s public practice directory: the Public Accounting Licence Directory in Nova Scotia, the Public Practice Permit Holder Directory in New Brunswick, the Licenced Public Accountant Directory in Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Public Practice License Holder Directory in PEI.

Why can’t I find a member who says they are a CPA?

They may be registered in another province, listed under a different legal name, or have asked not to be listed. Contact the relevant body through its website to confirm.

Does a listing guarantee good standing?

Not on its own. New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and PEI state they make no representations or warranties about the accuracy or completeness of their directories, so confirm any status question with the body directly.

Guide only — not a verification tool

This page describes the register and links to it. It does not check anyone’s membership, it does not copy or proxy any register data, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Use the official register to confirm status. Not legal or professional advice.
