Worked example
Bride hair $150 and makeup $180; four party members at $90 hair and $100 makeup; $200 of trials, $100 travel and $75 early start; 13% tax, 15% tip, 25% deposit. Services $1,090.00 plus fees $375.00 = $1,465.00. Tax $190.45, tip $219.75, total $1,875.20; deposit $468.80, balance $1,406.40. If the bride covers the fees, each party member owes $243.20 and the bride $902.40. Split the travel and early fees across all five and each party member owes $288.00 and the bride $723.20.
How it works
Subtotal = bride hair + bride makeup + party size x (hair + makeup) + trials + travel + early-start fee. Tax and tip are each a percent of that subtotal, so total = subtotal x (1 + tax + tip). The deposit is the percent you enter of the total.
Each party member's share is their own hair and makeup, plus an even share of the travel and early-start fees if you chose to split them, then times (1 + tax + tip). The bride's share is the total minus the party's shares, so the pieces always add to the quote. Rounding to the cent can move a share by a cent.
No standard prices. Wedding hair and makeup prices vary by city and artist, so every price here is yours. Your contract decides what is taxed, what the deposit is and whether it is refundable; check it before relying on these totals.
Sources and basis (checked 2026-10-08): arithmetic on the prices, tax, tip and deposit you enter; no external rate is applied.
FAQ
How much does wedding hair and makeup cost?
It depends on the city, the artist and the number of people. This calculator does not assume a price; enter the quote you were given for each service.
Is tip included in the total?
Yes, at the percent you enter, on the price before tax. Set it to 0 if your artist includes a service charge or you will tip in cash separately.
How is the deposit worked out?
It is the percent you enter times the total with tax and tip. Contracts differ, so use the figure written in yours.
Should the bride pay for the bridesmaids?
That is a personal choice. The per-person section shows what each person owes if everyone pays their own, and you can see the whole total above it.
What goes in the trial fees box?
Add every trial together, for hair and makeup, as one number.
