Sources and assumptions
A Canadian standard drink is 17.05 mL (13.45 g) of pure alcohol, equal to a 341 mL beer at 5%, a 142 mL glass of wine at 12% or a 43 mL shot of spirits at 40%. Source: Health Canada — Low-risk alcohol drinking guidelines and CCSA — Canada’s Guidance on Alcohol and Health (2023). Keg sizes (58.6, 50, 30 and 20 L) are those listed in The Beer Store keg sizing guide; ask your supplier which sizes they stock. Standard drinks in a container = volume × ABV ÷ 17.05 mL. Drinks per guest per hour, the beverage split and the buffer are your own planning inputs, not published figures. Kegs are counted at full volume, so allow for foam and spillage with the buffer.
