Azure Functions cost, Consumption or Flex.

Price executions, duration and memory on both serverless plans and see which comes out lower.

Consumption cost = (GB-seconds − 400,000) × $0.000016 + (executions − 1M) × $0.20 per million. Flex Consumption on demand is $0.000026 per GB-s and $0.40 per million, with 100,000 GB-s and 250,000 executions free.

Estimate

Method and limits

Consumption: memory is rounded up to the nearest 128 MB bucket (minimum 128 MB, maximum 1,536 MB), execution time is rounded up to 1 ms with a 100 ms minimum, and GB-seconds are executions × seconds × GB. Flex Consumption on demand: the minimum billable execution period is 1,000 ms, rounding up to the nearest 100 ms after that, and GB-seconds use the instance memory size you choose. The tool divides Flex GB-seconds by the number of executions that share an instance, which is a simplification: Flex bills instance time while functions execute, so real figures depend on how concurrency behaves in your app.

Free grants are monthly and shared by every app they cover; Microsoft lists the Flex grant per subscription. Not modelled: Flex always-ready instances, the Premium and Dedicated plans, storage, Application Insights and networking.

Frequently asked questions

How is Azure Functions Consumption priced?

Two meters: executions at $0.20 per million after 1 million free, and execution time in GB-seconds at $0.000016 after 400,000 free GB-seconds, using memory rounded up to the nearest 128 MB and a 100 ms minimum duration.

What is the Azure Functions free grant?

The Consumption plan includes 1 million executions and 400,000 GB-s per month. Flex Consumption includes 250,000 executions and 100,000 GB-s per month per subscription.

Is Flex Consumption cheaper than Consumption?

Not automatically. Flex has a higher GB-second price and a 1,000 ms minimum execution period, but it bills instance memory and can share an instance across concurrent executions, so the result depends on your concurrency. Compare both with your own numbers.

What does the estimate leave out?

Always-ready instances, Premium and Dedicated plans, storage, monitoring and networking are not included, and other regions have different rates.
