25 sales of a $249 course is $6,225.00. At the example processing rate of 2.9% + $0.30, fees cost $188.02. The Basic plan on annual billing is $40, so you keep $5,996.98, 96.3% of sales. Start ($82) would leave $5,954.98 and Grow ($164) $5,872.98 at the same volume. To take home $4,000 on Basic you would need about $4,165.83 in monthly sales.
How it works
Thinkific's pricing page lists Basic at $54 a month ($40 billed annually), Start at $109 ($82) and Grow at $219 ($164). It shows no per-plan transaction fee. It describes Thinkific Payments as in line with other processors at 2.9%, and says a third-party gateway fee applies that varies by plan type, without giving the amounts. Standard Stripe and PayPal processing still applies.
That is why this calculator asks for your processing percent and fixed fee and for any gateway fee, with 2.9% + $0.30 as an example only. PayPal checkout is available on the Grow and Plus plans. Taxes, refunds and chargebacks are not modelled.
