Formula: revenue kept = selling price / (1 + GST) when you charge GST on the product, otherwise the full price. Profit = revenue kept - referral fee - closing fee - weight handling fee - pick and pack - storage - 18% GST on those fees (if applicable) - your product, inbound and other costs.
Worked example from this tool: a ₹1,500.00 item in Headsets, Headphones and Earphones through a fulfilment centre. The referral fee is ₹270.00 (18% of the total price (top band)); with a ₹20.00 closing fee and ₹60.00 weight handling fee you enter, plus ₹17.00 pick and pack for a 0.5 kg standard item and ₹1.32 of storage for one month, fees total ₹368.32 before ₹66.30 of GST on them. After ₹228.81 of product GST, profit per unit is ₹336.57.
Referral fee slabs: under the revised schedule most of the 230-plus fee categories charge 0% on items priced up to 1,000 rupees and a percentage on the whole price above that. For Headsets, Headphones and Earphones a 1,000 rupee item pays ₹0.00 and a 1,001 rupee item pays ₹180.18. Some categories keep several slabs: Automotive Vehicles pay 0% to 1,000 rupees, 5% from 1,000 to 50,000 rupees and 2% above, so a 40,000 rupee vehicle pays ₹2,000.00 while a 60,000 rupee one pays ₹1,200.00, because the tool applies the matching slab's rate to the whole price, which is how the page's worked examples read, not only to the part above the threshold.
Closing and weight handling fees: the closing fee depends on the price band, the channel (fulfilment centre, Easy Ship, Seller Flex or self ship) and, for fulfilment centre items, the category group. The page states that closing fees rose by 1 rupee up to 500 rupees and by 3 rupees above, effective 7 September 2026, and that weight handling fees depend on weight, local, regional or national route and channel. Those rate cards are images on Amazon's page, so this tool takes both figures as inputs rather than guessing them.
What the tool computes from the page text: pick and pack for fulfilment centre items is 17 rupees for a standard item up to 1 kg, 5 rupees for each additional kilogram up to 5 kg and 2 rupees for each additional 5 kg after that (26 rupees for heavy and bulky items); storage is 50 rupees per cubic foot per month; and GST at 18% applies to every fee. The page does not say how partial kilograms round, so each started kilogram is counted.

FAQ
Is there a referral fee on Amazon India for items under 1,000 rupees?
For most categories on the page the referral fee is 0% for an item price up to 1,000 rupees and a percentage above that. A few categories still charge on cheap items, such as Warranty Services, Books above 250 rupees and Consumable Physical Gift Cards. Check your category in the dropdown.
Is the referral fee charged on the whole price or the part above the slab?
The page's worked example multiplies the item price by the referral percentage, and the rule text is written as one percentage for each price range. The tool therefore applies the percentage of the matching slab to the whole price.
Why do I have to enter the closing fee and weight handling fee?
Amazon shows those rate cards as images by channel, price band, category group, weight and route, and the page text does not carry the numbers. Entering them from the official card is more reliable than a guess. The tool does compute pick and pack, storage and GST from the page text.
Is GST charged on Amazon fees in India?
Yes. The page states all fees are displayed excluding GST and that 18% GST will be applied. If you are registered you may be able to claim it as input tax credit; set the tax-on-fees field to 0 to model that. This is not tax advice.
What changed on 7 September 2026?
Closing fees for the fulfilment centre, Easy Ship and Seller Flex channels increased by 1 rupee for products priced up to 500 rupees and by 3 rupees above 500 rupees, according to the fee-changes notice on Amazon.in. Enter the updated figure from the closing-fee card.
