What a result means
A match means a record with that name exists in the Colorado Secretary of State's public business-entity dataset. The status is the label the state publishes for that record. This page does not interpret it as legal standing, tax compliance or authority to operate, and it is not a certificate of good standing.
Worked example
Searching Rocky Mountain Roosters on 30 September 2026 returned one record: ROCKY MOUNTAIN ROOSTERS INC., ID 19871671045, status Good Standing, type DPC, jurisdiction CO, formed 1986-05-05. Searching the ID alone returns the same record.
Reading the fields
- Status: shown exactly as published. Labels in the dataset on 30 September 2026 include Good Standing, Delinquent, Voluntarily Dissolved, Administratively Dissolved, Withdrawn, Noncompliant, Revoked, Judicially Dissolved, Exists, Merged and Converted. Ask the Secretary of State what a label means for your situation.
- Type: the Secretary of State's abbreviation (for example DLLC, DPC, FLLC). The dataset documents it only as an abbreviation. In the data, codes starting with D have a Colorado jurisdiction and codes starting with F show another jurisdiction (checked for DLLC, DPC, FLLC and FPC). That is an observed pattern, not an official decode.
- Jurisdiction and formation date: as published. Some older rows spell the jurisdiction out (Colorado, Delaware) instead of using a two-letter code.
- Excluded: registered-agent names and addresses, and principal and mailing addresses, are never requested.
How the query works
Your browser calls the public Socrata endpoint data.colorado.gov/resource/4ykn-tg5h.json with a fixed field list and a case-insensitive contains match on the upper-cased name, sorted by name, 25 rows maximum. Unauthenticated Socrata access is throttled, so heavy use can return a rate-limit error. TNAADO does not store searches.

Frequently asked questions
Does this show whether a Colorado business is in good standing?
It shows the status label the Colorado Secretary of State publishes for the record, such as Good Standing, Delinquent or Voluntarily Dissolved. It is a public-data match, not a certificate and not legal advice. Order a certificate of good standing from the Secretary of State when you need an official one.
Why can I not see the registered agent?
This tool deliberately requests only the entity name, ID, status, type, jurisdiction and formation date. Agent names and addresses are in the public dataset but are excluded here.
Why is a business I know missing?
Search matches the name as filed, so "&" versus "and", punctuation, or a trade name (an assumed name is not an entity name) can all miss. Try fewer words, or search by the 11-digit entity ID.
How current is the data?
The state dataset is described as updated daily. At build time (30 September 2026) the portal reported its last modification as 30 September 2026. A very recent filing may not appear yet.
Not legal advice
This is a public-record lookup, not a certificate, legal opinion or confirmation of good standing. Verify anything that matters with the Colorado Secretary of State.
