U.S. and Canadian NAICS are related, not interchangeable

NAICS was developed jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The first two digits are designed for trilateral comparability, but national detail can differ. This page uses the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 U.S. structure. For a Canadian filing, use the NAICS Canada 2022 lookup (Statistics Canada) instead of copying a U.S. six-digit code.

What the SIC links mean

The SIC links are a historical 2002 NAICS to 1987 SIC concordance published by the Census Bureau. A business can map to more than one SIC relationship, and the crosswalk is not a current replacement for an agency’s classification rule.
