Super visa requirements checklist.

The host, the applicant and the documents IRCC asks for, in one list you can tick through before you apply.

You need a host who is your child or grandchild (Canadian citizen, permanent resident or registered Indian, 18+, living in Canada) who meets the minimum necessary income and signs a letter of invitation, plus private health insurance ($100,000 minimum, 1 year), a medical exam and proof of your relationship.

How the requirements fit together

The super visa is built around the host. IRCC first checks that your host is your child or grandchild and a citizen, permanent resident or registered Indian, then checks their income against the minimum necessary income table. The host's signed letter of invitation carries that income proof and lists everyone in the family-size count.

Your own side is the insurance policy, the medical exam and proof of the family relationship. Not covered here: the Local visa office instructions section on IRCC's page can add requirements specific to your country, so read it before applying. Use the invitation letter checker and the insurance requirements checker to test the two documents people most often get wrong.
