Immigration · Family application costs

Citizenship, sponsorship and PR card fee calculator.

IRCC lists fees per person. This adds them up for the application you are actually filing: a family becoming citizens, sponsoring a spouse or parent with dependants, or renewing PR cards, and shows how much of it is the refundable right of permanent residence fee.

Sponsoring a spouse costs $1,260, of which $600 is the refundable RPRF, plus $180 per dependent child. An adult citizenship application is $653, a minor $100, a PR card $50.

Frequently asked questions

Is the sponsorship fee the same in Canada and abroad?

For a spouse or partner, IRCC lists the same $1,260 (or $660 without the RPRF) for both, and $180 per dependent child.

Do I get money back if I am refused?

Only the $600 RPRF. IRCC calls it the only fee it can refund after processing starts.

What is not included?

Biometrics (which IRCC lists for visitor, study and work permits), language tests, police certificates, medical exams, translations and any lawyer or consultant fees.
