How the dates are set
Thanksgiving Day is a federal holiday, and 5 U.S.C. 6103(a) fixes it as the fourth Thursday in November. That puts it between November 22 and November 28 every year. The other three dates are defined from it: Black Friday is the day after, Cyber Monday is the Monday after, and GivingTuesday is the Tuesday after. Only Thanksgiving is a legal holiday; the others are conventions set by retailers and by the GivingTuesday organization, which lists December 1 as the 2026 date on its site.

November 1, 2026 is a Sunday, so the first Thursday of the month is November 5 and the fourth is November 26. Add one day for Black Friday (Friday, 2026-11-27), four days for Cyber Monday (Monday, 2026-11-30) and five days for GivingTuesday (Tuesday, 2026-12-01). The U.S. Office of Personnel Management's list of federal holidays for 2026 gives Thanksgiving as Thursday, November 26, matching the calculation. There are 29 days from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day.
Early and late Thanksgivings
Thanksgiving falls on November 22 when November 1 is a Thursday, as in 2029, and on November 28 when November 1 is a Friday, as in 2030. In years with a late Thanksgiving, Cyber Monday and GivingTuesday move into December: in 2030 they are December 2 and December 3.
