How to calculate birth year from age
Subtract the age from the current year. If this year's birthday has already happened, that is the birth year. If it has not, subtract one more year.
Worked example. Someone aged 35 on 8 October 2026 was born in 1990 or 1991. If the birthday is 1 December, it has not happened yet in 2026, so the answer is 1990. With a birthday before 8 October the answer would be 1991.
Use the "age as of" date for ages quoted in the past, like an age in a news story or a document.
