How the conversion works
The tool asks your browser's built-in Intl.DateTimeFormat to express a date in the islamic-umalqura or islamic-civil calendar. Hijri to Gregorian is found by locating the Gregorian day whose Hijri date matches, so nothing is estimated in the result. Umm al-Qura is the official calendar of Saudi Arabia and is tabulated (published by KACST). Islamic civil is a fixed arithmetic calendar with 30- and 29-day months alternating, so the two can differ by a day or so.
Plus or minus one day
Umm al-Qura is calculated in advance, and the civil calendar is arithmetic. Neither is an observation. Many communities begin a month, and especially Ramadan and the two Eids, by local moon sighting, which can fall a day earlier or later than either calculated date. Confirm religious observances with your local authority.
Range and limits
Supported range is 1300 to 1600 AH (12 November 1882 to 25 November 2174), the span in which the browser's ICU data carries Umm al-Qura tables; outside it ICU falls back to arithmetic, so the tool declines rather than guess. Month names are the CLDR English transliterations and Arabic names. Weekday is the Gregorian weekday of the civil day.
