How to find your Chinese zodiac animal
The Chinese zodiac repeats every 12 years in this order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig. Your animal is the one for the lunar year you were born in, and the lunar year starts on the Lunar New Year, which falls between 21 January and 20 February in the years this tool covers (1901 to 2100).
Worked example. Born 15 January 1990, you are a Snake, not a Horse, because the lunar year that includes that date began on 1989-02-06. Born 15 March 1990 you are a Horse, because the 1990 lunar year had already begun on 1990-01-27.
The tool uses the Hong Kong Observatory conversion table for the lunar year start dates, covering 19 February 1901 to the end of 2100.
