Venezuela RIF validator.
Validar RIF: check a Venezuelan Registro de Información Fiscal such as J-07013380-5 for its letter, its 8-digit number and its check digit. It runs in your browser and does not contact SENIAT.
How it works: the letter is worth 4 (V), 8 (E), 12 (J), 16 (P) or 20 (G). Add the 8 digits multiplied by 3, 2, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2; take the sum mod 11; the check digit is 11 − that remainder, with remainders 0 and 1 both giving 0.

Worked example J-07013380: letter J is 12; digits 0, 7, 0, 1, 3, 3, 8, 0 times 3, 2, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 add 71; 12 + 71 = 83; 83 mod 11 = 6; 11 − 6 = 5. The RIF is J-07013380-5.
What this does not tell you
We could not reach a SENIAT source for the formula, so it comes from python-stdnum, which this tool is tested against, and the J-07013380-5 example was also worked by hand. The comunal prefix C is not handled. A passing result does not show the RIF is registered or active.

Why are there leading zeros?
The number part is always 8 digits, so shorter numbers such as a 7-digit cedula are written with a leading zero.
Can this confirm the taxpayer exists?
No, only SENIAT can.
