Ontario demerit points calculator.

Pick each conviction and its offence date. The tool counts only the points still on your record, shows your warning or suspension level and the date each set drops off.

A fully licensed Ontario driver gets a warning letter at 6 points, a second at 9, and a 30-day suspension at 15. Novice drivers (G1, G2) are warned at 2, again at 6, and suspended for 60 days at 9. Points stay on your record two years from the offence date.

How the count works

Ontario adds the points for each conviction. They are not subtracted over time: a conviction's points stay on your record for two years from the offence date, then no longer count. This tool totals only the convictions whose two-year window includes the “count points as of” date, and shows the date each set drops off (the second anniversary of the offence).

Warning and suspension levels

Fully licensed: 6–8 points, warning letter; 9–14, second warning letter; 15 or more, 30-day suspension. Novice drivers (G1, G2, M1, M2, M1-L, M2-L): 2–5, warning letter; 6–8, second warning letter; 9 or more, 60-day suspension. After a suspension and passing the required tests, points drop to 7 (full licence) or 4 (novice) and stay for two years. Convictions in other Canadian provinces and territories, New York State and Michigan add points as if they happened in Ontario.

What is not included

Separate novice penalties for breaking graduated-licence conditions, court-imposed suspensions, insurance effects, and offences that carry no demerit points are not modelled.
