Where to mail your tax return
Three tax centres take every paper T1. Which one depends on where you live, and in Ontario on which city. Pick yours and get the address.
A Toronto resident mails a paper return to the Sudbury Tax Centre, 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury ON P3A 5C2. A Hamilton resident mails to the Winnipeg Tax Centre, Post Office Box 14001, Station Main, Winnipeg MB R3C 3M3. The CRA page sorts Ontario by city; this finder does the sorting for you.
Where you live
Your result
The part the official page leaves you to work out
The CRA's "Where to mail your paper T1 return" page is organized by tax centre, not by where you live, so you read three lists of places and hunt for yours. Ontario is the awkward one: the page does not give a province-wide answer, it names fourteen cities and assigns each to a centre. Toronto and Ottawa go to Sudbury; Hamilton, London and Windsor go to Winnipeg. This finder turns the lists into a question about where you live. It uses the page dated 2025-09-26, the version on Canada.ca when it was read on October 26, 2026. The CRA has not published a newer one that we could find, so confirm on the official page before the filing deadline each year.
Every resident rule, in one table
| If you live in | Mail to | Address |
|---|---|---|
| Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon | Winnipeg Tax Centre | Post Office Box 14001, Station Main, Winnipeg MB R3C 3M3 |
| Ontario: Hamilton, Kitchener, Waterloo, London, Thunder Bay, Windsor | Winnipeg Tax Centre | Post Office Box 14001, Station Main, Winnipeg MB R3C 3M3 |
| New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island | Sudbury Tax Centre | 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury ON P3A 5C2 |
| Ontario: Barrie, Belleville, Kingston, Ottawa, Peterborough, St. Catharines, Sudbury, Toronto | Sudbury Tax Centre | 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury ON P3A 5C2 |
| Quebec: Montréal, Outaouais, Sherbrooke | Sudbury Tax Centre | 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury ON P3A 5C2 |
| Quebec: everywhere else | Jonquière Tax Centre | 2251 René-Lévesque Boulevard, Jonquière QC G7S 5J2 |
Worked example: a taxpayer in Toronto
A Toronto resident is on the Sudbury list, so a paper return goes to the Sudbury Tax Centre, 1050 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury ON P3A 5C2. The same person's neighbour in Hamilton mails to the Winnipeg Tax Centre at Post Office Box 14001, Station Main, Winnipeg MB R3C 3M3, even though the two cities are about 70 kilometres apart. Neither goes to the tax centre named after the nearest big city, which is the mistake the table is there to prevent.
Non-residents
The CRA page says that because of international mail delays it is temporarily accepting non-resident returns by fax. Residents of the USA, United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands or Denmark use the Winnipeg Tax Centre (fax 204-984-5164). Residents of other countries use the Sudbury Tax Centre (fax 705-671-3994 and 1-855-276-1529). Both centres also keep their mailing addresses above.
What this does not cover
- Ontario places the page does not name. If your town is not one of the fourteen, the CRA page does not say where to send the return; the finder says so instead of guessing. Call the CRA or check the page.
- Payments. The page we read covers returns only. Where to send a payment is a different instruction.
- Corporate and other forms. This is the T1 individual return page. The CRA says its general mailing addresses are on a separate page.
Method and assumptions
The data is copied from the CRA page as read on October 26, 2026; nothing is fetched while you use the tool and nothing you select is sent to us. Tax centres are public government addresses. This site is not part of the CRA and the finder is not affiliated with it.

Common mix-ups
-
Often assumedI mail my return to the tax centre in or nearest my own city.
What the source saysThe CRA page assigns places to centres by its own lists: Toronto and Ottawa residents mail to the Sudbury Tax Centre, while Hamilton, London and Windsor residents mail to the Winnipeg Tax Centre. [1]
-
Often assumedThe CRA page covers every town in Ontario.
What the source saysFor Ontario the page names specific cities under each centre. It has a catch-all only for Quebec (Jonquière for everywhere except Montréal, Outaouais and Sherbrooke), so a place that is not named is not answered by the page. [1]
