Bangladesh NID number format check.
Check whether a Bangladeshi National ID number has a recognised length (10, 13 or 17 digits). Browser only, format only. For verification use the official NID Wing portal.
How it works: 10 digits is the smart-card NID, 13 digits is the older NID, and 17 digits is the birth year followed by the 13-digit number. For 17 digits the leading year is checked for plausibility.

NID lengths
Bangladeshi NID numbers are reported in three lengths: 10 digits for smart cards, 13 digits for older cards, and 17 digits formed by putting the four-digit birth year in front of the 13-digit number (many online forms ask for this longer form).
Format only, not verification
The Election Commission NID Wing does not publish an internal structure or check digit that we could retrieve. This tool therefore tests length and, for 17 digits, a plausible birth year. Only the NID Wing can confirm a number. Beware of unofficial sites offering NID downloads.
Confirm it with the issuer
To check that a number really exists, use the official service: NID Wing, Bangladesh Election Commission. This page never contacts it and does not pass your number to it.

Frequently asked questions
How many digits is a Bangladesh NID?
Ten digits on smart cards, thirteen on older cards, and seventeen when the birth year is added in front of the thirteen digits.
How do I turn a 13-digit NID into 17 digits?
Put your four-digit birth year in front of the 13 digits.
Is my number sent anywhere?
No. The check runs locally in your browser.
Format only — not a registry lookup
This tool checks the number entirely in your browser. It does not query any government register and does not imply official verification. A matching pattern is not proof that the number was ever issued or belongs to anyone. An ID number is personal data: nothing you type is transmitted, stored or logged, but use a sample number where you can.
