Vietnam CCCD number checker.
Check a 12-digit Vietnamese citizen ID (CCCD) number and read the century, gender and birth year it encodes. Runs in your browser. Format only.
How it works: digits 1-3 are a province or country code, digit 4 combines century and gender, digits 5-6 are the birth year, and the last six digits are a random sequence.

How a CCCD number is built
| Digits | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 1-3 | Province / city (or country) code of birth registration |
| 4 | Century and gender: 0 male and 1 female for 1900s, 2 and 3 for 2000s, 4 and 5 for 2100s, and so on |
| 5-6 | Last two digits of birth year |
| 7-12 | Random sequence |
Format only, not verification
No check digit exists in the structure, so a pass only means the fields are consistent. The older 9-digit CMND has no published layout and is accepted by length only. Province names are not looked up here; use the code appendix of the current circular to find the province.
Confirm it with the issuer
Vietnam does not offer a public number-lookup service that we could find. To read the rules yourself, use the official resource: Vietnam National Legal Database (search Circular 07/2016/TT-BCA). This page never contacts it and does not pass your number to it.

The legal text itself could not be opened on 2026-10-16 (the host returned access denied); structure was taken from legal-information summaries of Circular 07/2016/TT-BCA. Verify against the Circular before relying on it.
Frequently asked questions
What do the 12 digits of a CCCD mean?
Three digits of province code, one digit of century and gender, two digits of birth year and six random digits.
How is gender shown in a Vietnamese ID number?
Digit 4: even is male, odd is female, with the value also setting the century (0 and 1 for the 1900s, 2 and 3 for the 2000s).
Does the tool name the province?
No. It shows the three-digit code only. Look the code up in the appendix of the circular.
Format only — not a registry lookup
This tool checks the number entirely in your browser. It does not query any government register and does not imply official verification. A matching pattern is not proof that the number was ever issued or belongs to anyone. An ID number is personal data: nothing you type is transmitted, stored or logged, but use a sample number where you can.
