Philippines PhilSys and TIN format checker.

Paste a Philippine ID number and see which format it fits: the 16-digit PhilSys Card Number (PCN), the 12-digit PhilSys Number (PSN), or a Tax Identification Number (TIN). Format only, in your browser.

How it works: it counts digits. 16 fits a PCN, 9 fits a TIN base, and 12 fits either a TIN with its 3-digit branch code or a PSN, so the tool cannot tell those two apart.

PCN, PSN and TIN

The Philippine Statistics Authority issues a 12-digit PhilSys Number (PSN), which it says should be kept private, and a 16-digit PhilSys Card Number (PCN) printed on the PhilID for public use. The Bureau of Internal Revenue issues the TIN: nine digits, usually followed by a three-digit branch code (000 for most individuals).

Format only, not verification

No check digit is public for any of these, so only the length is tested. A 12-digit number is ambiguous by design. Do not paste a PSN into any website you do not control. Nothing is sent from this page, but the safest habit is to test with a sample number.

Confirm it with the issuer

To check that a number really exists, use the official service: Bureau of Internal Revenue (TIN). This page never contacts it and does not pass your number to it.

Sources

The PSA advisory returned a bot check to our automated retrieval on 2026-10-16; the PCN/PSN lengths come from a search extract of it. The 9+3 digit TIN layout was not found on a BIR page and is the commonly reported layout; treat both as format-only.

Frequently asked questions

How many digits is a PhilSys number?

The PhilSys Card Number (PCN) on the card is 16 digits. The private PhilSys Number (PSN) is 12 digits.

What is the format of a Philippine TIN?

Nine digits, usually written with a three-digit branch code, such as 123-456-789-000.

Should I share my PSN?

PSA advises against it. Give out the PCN instead.

Format only — not a registry lookup

This tool checks the number entirely in your browser. It does not query any government register and does not imply official verification. A matching pattern is not proof that the number was ever issued or belongs to anyone. An ID number is personal data: nothing you type is transmitted, stored or logged, but use a sample number where you can.
