Retirement contribution limits.
Pick an account in the US, Canada or the UK, enter your age and what you have put in so far this year, and see the limit, the room left, and exactly where each number came from.
2026 limits: US 401(k) $24,500 and IRA $7,500, Canadian RRSP $33,810 and TFSA $7,000, UK pension annual allowance £60,000. Each is read from the IRS, CRA or GOV.UK page listed below, with its as-of date. Only these three jurisdictions are covered, because they are the ones whose primary pages were opened and checked.

Worked example
A 52-year-old US employee has put $20,000 into their 401(k) this year. Age 50 or over adds the $8,000 catch-up to the $24,500 base, so the limit is $32,500 and $12,500 of room remains. At 61 the higher $11,250 catch-up applies instead, giving $35,750 (derived: $24,500 + $11,250; the IRS release states the $11,250 figure, not the sum).
Every figure, with source and as-of date
| Account | Limit | Year |
|---|
- United States, 2026: IRS news release IR-2025-111, dated Nov. 13, 2025. The broader 2026 inflation adjustments page covers income-tax figures only and carries no retirement limits, so it is not used for them.
- Canada, 2026: CRA limits table, page dated 2025-12-01. It lists the RRSP dollar limit ($33,810 for 2026, $35,390 for 2027) and the TFSA dollar limit ($7,000 for 2026).
- United Kingdom, 2026–27: GOV.UK annual allowance, read 1 October 2026. The page says £60,000 for "this tax year"; we label that 2026–27 because the tax year runs 6 April to 5 April.

What this does not do
It compares one number to one limit. It does not apply the US IRA income phase-outs to you, the UK taper, the RRSP rule that your personal deduction limit may be lower than the dollar limit (see your Notice of Assessment), or TFSA room carried forward from earlier years. It does not cover other countries.
Frequently asked questions
Is the IRA limit separate from my 401(k) limit?
Yes. The IRS release gives $24,500 for 401(k)-type employee deferrals and $7,500 for IRAs as separate annual limits. The IRA limit is one combined figure across traditional and Roth IRAs.
Why is the RRSP limit 33,810 and not 35,390?
$35,390 is the 2026 money purchase limit and the 2027 RRSP dollar limit. The RRSP dollar limit for 2026 is $33,810, per the CRA table.
Does the UK allowance include my employer's contributions?
Yes. GOV.UK says the annual allowance counts the total paid into a defined contribution scheme by you or anyone else, and any increase in a defined benefit scheme. It can also be lower if you have flexibly accessed your pension or have a high income, and unused allowance from the previous three tax years may be carried over.
Will these numbers change?
Yes, every year. Each figure shows the year it applies to and the date of its source, so you can tell when it is stale.
