How the two quotes are compared

Per-unit total = units x price per unit. The flat quote is its own total. The gap is the difference, the flat price per unit is flat price / units, and break-even units = flat price / price per unit: the unit count at which the two quotes cost the same. The tool does not say how many units any treatment needs.

Worked example. 30 units at $12 = $360.00 against a $400.00 flat price: the per-unit quote saves $40.00, the flat price works out to $13.33 per unit and break-even is 33.33 units. At 40 units, $12 per unit is $480.00, so a $400.00 flat price saves $80.00.

Compare product as well as price: the BOTOX Cosmetic prescribing information says its units cannot be compared to or converted into units of other botulinum toxin products. Context: ASPS reports an average botulinum toxin cost of $435 in US dollars.

FAQ

Is Botox cheaper per unit or per area?

Neither is always cheaper. If you are quoted more units than the break-even count, the flat price costs less; fewer, and the per-unit price costs less. Enter both quotes to see.

How do I work out the price per unit of a flat quote?

Divide the flat price by the units in the plan. The calculator shows it as the flat price per unit.

What is break-even units?

Flat price divided by price per unit. At exactly that many units both quotes cost the same.

Can I use this for other brands?

The arithmetic works for any pair of quotes, but units are not comparable between products, so compare total prices for the same treatment.

Does the calculator include tax or tip?

No. Enter all prices on the same basis, either all before tax or all after.
