Worked example
First session Monday, November 2, 2026; 6 sessions, 6 weeks apart, $150 each, no tax. The dates are Nov 2, Dec 14, Jan 25, Mar 8, Apr 19 and May 31 (a 30-week span). The course costs 6 × $150 = $900. With 2 touch-ups a year at $150 you would add $300 a year, so the course plus one year of touch-ups is $1,200.
How it works
Each date is the previous one plus the weeks you chose; cost is sessions × price × (1 + tax). Cleveland Clinic says laser only works on a hair follicle in its growth (anagen) phase and follicles are in different stages at different times, which is why most people need multiple treatments, likely six to eight, usually about six to eight weeks apart so more hairs are caught in different growth phases.
The same page says most people see about a 10% to 25% reduction in hair growth after the first treatment, and that laser hair removal is not permanent. In the weeks before treatment it advises avoiding tanning beds and the sun, since tanned skin can make laser less effective and cause side effects; to shave the area two to three days before a treatment; and, once treatment begins, to avoid waxing, tweezing and plucking in the treated areas. Your provider sets the real schedule for your hair and skin.

FAQ
How many laser hair removal sessions do I need?
Cleveland Clinic says you will likely need six to eight treatments. Your provider can tell you more for your skin, hair and area.
How far apart should laser hair removal sessions be?
Cleveland Clinic says sessions are usually about six to eight weeks apart, which helps capture more hairs in different growth phases. The planner defaults to 6 weeks and lets you change it.
Why do I need more than one session?
A follicle has to be in its anagen, or growth, stage for the treatment to work, and follicles are in different stages at different times.
Can I wax between laser sessions?
Cleveland Clinic says to avoid waxing, tweezing and plucking in the treated areas once treatment begins. Ask your provider what to do between sessions.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Cleveland Clinic says it is not permanent. Most people see about a 10% to 25% reduction in hair growth after the first treatment, and you may be hair free for several months or years after the full course.
