The yearly cost of an activity is fee per session x sessions per week x weeks, plus registration and gear, times the number of children. Add the activities together and divide by 12 for the monthly average.
Arithmetic only. No prices are built in; every figure is from the fees you enter.
Worked example
Swimming at $20 a session, once a week for 40 weeks, with $60 of registration and goggles for one child costs $860 a year ($21.50 per session). Piano at $35 a lesson, once a week for 36 weeks, with $120 of books and a recital fee, for two children costs $2,760. Together that is $3,620 a year, or $301.67 a month, across 112 sessions at an average of $32.32 per session.
How it works
For each activity: yearly cost = (fee x sessions per week x weeks + yearly extras) x children. Sessions = sessions per week x weeks x children. Cost per session = yearly cost / sessions. Monthly = yearly / 12 and weekly = yearly / 52. Rows without a fee or extras are skipped.

FAQ
How much do kids' activities cost per year?
It depends on the activity, the program and where you live. Enter your own fees: this calculator adds fee x sessions x weeks, registration and gear, for each child.
How do I include registration and equipment?
Put registration, uniforms, gear, books, recital or tournament fees in yearly extras for that activity. They are added once a year per child.
What if the program charges per term instead of per session?
Divide the term fee by the number of sessions to get a fee per session, or enter the fee in yearly extras and set sessions per week to 0.
How is the monthly cost worked out?
Yearly total divided by 12. It is an average, because most programs bill by term or season and not evenly each month.
Does it count more than one child?
Yes. Set the number of children doing each activity and fees, sessions and extras are multiplied by that number.
