Worked example

A $20.00 product sold 100 times, 20 of them through Discover. The 80 direct sales pay 10% x $20.00 + $0.50 = $2.50 each, $200.00 in total. The 20 Discover sales pay 30% x $20.00 = $6.00 each, $120.00. Sales of $2,000.00 leave $1,680.00, 84.0% of sales.

To net $20.00 on a direct sale, charge ($20.00 + $0.50) / 0.90 = $22.78.

How it works

Gumroad's pricing page lists 10% + $0.50 per transaction for sales through your profile or direct links, and 30% per transaction when new customers find and buy from you through its Discover marketplace. The page also says Gumroad has been the merchant of record since January 1, 2025 and handles sales tax collection and remittance. It lists no separate processing line, so none is added here. Payout method and country can change what reaches your bank.

The $0.50 hits low prices hardest: on a $5.00 product a direct sale pays 10% + $0.50 = $1.00, a 20% cut.
