Worked example
A Canadian store takes 300 orders a month at CA$80 each, paid yearly, all on standard Shopify Payments cards. Basic: CA$37 + 300 x (80 x 2.8% + CA$0.30) = CA$37 + CA$762.00 = CA$799.00. Grow: CA$99 + 300 x (80 x 2.6% + CA$0.30) = CA$813.00. Advanced: CA$389 + 300 x (80 x 2.4% + CA$0.30) = CA$1,055.00. At this volume Basic is cheapest; the higher plans only win once the per-order saving covers their higher subscription (see the break-even calculator).
How it works
Total = subscription + card fees + third-party fees. Card fees are orders x average order value x the plan's percentage, plus the fixed fee per order, split by the card mix you enter (standard, Amex, international). Orders you route to an outside gateway skip the Shopify Payments card fee and instead pay Shopify's third-party transaction fee (2% Basic, 1% Grow, 0.6% Advanced, 0.2% Plus) plus the gateway's own fee, which you type in. Prices are the printed price per month; sales tax, shipping charges, refunds, currency conversion and apps are not modelled.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored.

FAQ
How much does Shopify cost per month?
On the Canadian pricing page read in October 2026, Basic is CA$49 a month or CA$37 a month billed yearly, Grow is CA$132 or CA$99, and Advanced is CA$517 or CA$389. Plus starts at CA$3,400 a month. UK and Australian prices differ and are in the calculator. Confirm on Shopify.
Which Shopify plan is cheapest for my sales?
Enter your orders, order value and card mix above. The lowest total is highlighted. Low volume usually favours Basic because the subscription dominates; high volume favours plans with lower card rates.
Do the card rates change by plan?
Yes. On the Canadian page, online standard card rates are 2.8% + 30 cents on Basic, 2.6% + 30 cents on Grow, 2.4% + 30 cents on Advanced and 2.15% + 30 cents on Plus. The fixed fee stays the same.
Does this include the Shopify third-party transaction fee?
Yes, for the share of orders you say are paid through an outside gateway. Shopify Help says these fees apply to transactions processed through third-party and alternate payment gateways.
Why are there no US figures?
Shopify shows its US pricing page by visitor location and it could not be retrieved for this tool, so only Canada, the UK and Australia are included rather than guessing.
