Dog walking profit per hour.
Enter the dogs per walk, price, walk and travel minutes, and your costs. See profit per hour including the time you spend travelling.
Profit per hour = (route revenue - route costs) / hours worked, where hours worked = walks x (walk minutes + travel minutes) / 60. 5 walks of 3 dogs at $20, with 30 minutes walking and 15 travelling each, earns $73.60 an hour after costs.

Worked example
Each walk has 3 dogs at $20, so revenue is $60 a walk and 5 walks make $300 a day. Each walk slot is 30 minutes walking plus 15 minutes of travel, so 5 slots take 5 x 45 / 60 = 3.75 hours. Driving 40 km at $0.35 is $14, plus $10 of other costs, so costs are $24 and profit is $276 a day. That is 276 / 3.75 = $73.60 an hour, against $80 an hour of revenue before costs.
How it works
Hours worked = walks x (walk minutes + travel minutes) / 60. Profit per hour divides daily revenue minus vehicle and other costs by those hours, so unpaid travel and handover time lowers it.
Vehicle cost per km is yours to set: fuel, repairs and wear, or a mileage rate you use for tax. Insurance, advertising and booking fees can go in other daily costs.
It assumes every slot is full and paid. Cancellations, gaps between clients and weather days are not included, so treat the yearly figure as an upper bound.
Sources and basis (checked 2026-10-08): Arithmetic on your inputs only; no industry rate or mileage figure is applied.

FAQ
Should I count travel time?
Yes. You cannot sell that time, so it belongs in the hours worked. Cutting travel by clustering clients often helps more than raising the price.
What vehicle cost per km should I use?
Use your own fuel and repair cost per km, or the mileage rate you use for tax in your country. The tool does not assume one.
Is this before tax?
Yes. It is profit before income tax, insurance you have not entered and your own time off.
