Price = minutes / 60 x your hourly rate + supplies. At $60 an hour with $6 of supplies, a 60-minute small dog is $66, rounded up to $70; a 90-minute medium dog is $96, rounded to $100.

Worked example
A groomer wants $60 an hour and spends $6 of supplies per dog, rounding prices up to the next $5. A small dog takes 60 minutes: 60 / 60 x $60 + $6 = $66, rounded up to $70. A medium dog takes 90 minutes: $90 + $6 = $96, rounded to $100. A large dog takes 120 minutes: $126, rounded to $130. A matted coat adds 30 extra minutes, which is $30 at $60 an hour, so the small dog becomes $96 and rounds to $100 (and the large dog $160).
How it works
Raw price = (minutes / 60) x hourly rate + supplies. The matted-coat add-on is the extra minutes at the same hourly rate, with no extra supplies.
The effective hourly figure is the rounded price minus supplies, divided by the hours of work, so you can see what rounding up does to your real rate.
Use minutes you actually measured on your own appointments, including bathing, drying, clipping and the nail trim. Your rent, insurance and other overhead should be inside the hourly rate you enter.

FAQ
How do I decide my hourly rate?
Add your monthly overhead and the pay you want, then divide by the hours you can realistically bill. The cost per chair hour calculator does that sum; enter the result here.
Should I charge by breed or by size and time?
Many groomers quote by size or coat type because time is what they sell. This tool prices from the minutes each size takes, which you can change per coat.
Why add a matted-coat charge?
De-matting is extra labour. Pricing it as extra minutes at your normal hourly rate keeps it consistent instead of a guess.
