vCard QR code generator.
Turn your contact details into a QR code. Scanning it offers to add you to the phone's contacts, with no typing.
How to make a contact QR code
- Enter a first and last name, or just an organization.
- Add a phone number, email and website. Empty fields are left out of the card.
- Keep the error-correction level at Medium or lower: a vCard holds a lot of text, and a denser code is harder to scan at small sizes.
- Download SVG or PNG and test-scan it before printing on business cards.
What is inside a vCard QR code
The code holds a vCard 3.0 text card (RFC 2426) with BEGIN:VCARD, N, FN, optional ORG, TEL, EMAIL and URL lines, and END:VCARD. Lines end in CRLF as RFC 6350 requires. In text values, backslash, comma, semicolon and line breaks are escaped; the website address is a URI value and is written as typed.
Worked example
Jane Doe at Acme, Inc. with a phone, email and a website address containing a comma produces:
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
N:Doe;Jane;;;
FN:Jane Doe
ORG:Acme\, Inc.
TEL:+1 555 123 4567
EMAIL:jane@example.com
URL:https://example.com/a,b
END:VCARD
The comma in the company name is escaped (Acme\, Inc.); the comma in the URL is not.
Keep in mind
- The card is stored in the code as readable text. Only include details you are happy to share with anyone who scans it.
- More fields mean a denser code. If it is hard to scan, remove the website or the organization.
- A static code cannot be edited. If your number or email changes, make and reprint a new code.
Other types: QR code generator, WiFi QR code and URL QR code.

vCard QR Code Generator FAQ
How do I make a vCard QR code?
Enter the name and the details you want to share, then download the code. Scanning it with a phone camera offers to save the contact. The card is built in your browser and never uploaded.
Which vCard version does it use?
vCard 3.0 (RFC 2426), which is widely supported by phone contacts apps. The text escaping and CRLF line endings follow RFC 6350.
Why are some fields missing from my card?
Fields you leave blank are omitted rather than written as empty lines. A name or an organization is required, because a vCard must have a formatted name.
Does a vCard QR code expire?
No. The contact details are written into the code itself, so it keeps working until you want to change the details and reprint.
Which error-correction level should I choose?
Denso Wave, the inventor of the QR code, lists four levels that can restore about 7% (L), 15% (M), 25% (Q) or 30% (H) of the code, and notes that M is the most frequently selected. Higher levels make a denser code, so use Q or H for printed codes that may get dirty or damaged, or when you place a logo over the centre, and L for clean screens and short data.
