URL QR code generator.
Paste a web address and get a QR code that opens it when scanned. Static, free, no signup, and it never expires.
How to make a QR code for a URL
- Paste the full web address. If you leave off https:// it is added for you.
- Download SVG for print or PNG for screens.
- Test-scan the code with your own phone and confirm it opens the right page.
Tips for URL codes that scan well
- Use a short, permanent address. Fewer characters make a simpler, easier-to-scan code. A static code cannot be edited later, so link to a page you control and will keep.
- Remove tracking parameters you do not need. Long query strings make the code denser.
- Keep the margin at 4 modules and dark-on-light colours. Low contrast or inverted colours can fail on some scanners; this tool warns you.
- Print it big enough. A denser code needs more printed size to scan from the same distance.
Why a static code never expires
The address is written directly into the pattern. There is no redirect, account or subscription involved, so the code works for as long as the page it points to exists. A dynamic QR code instead encodes a short link held by the provider that made it, which lets them count scans and change the destination, but ties the code to that provider.
Other types: QR code generator (text, WiFi, vCard, email, phone, SMS), WiFi QR code and vCard QR code.

URL QR Code Generator FAQ
How do I make a QR code for a URL?
Paste the address, check the preview and download the code as PNG or SVG. Missing https:// is added for you. The code is generated in your browser.
Does this QR code expire, and is it really free?
It is free with no signup, and the code never expires. These are static QR codes: your data is written straight into the pattern, with no redirect through our server or anyone else's, so there is no account, scan limit or renewal. A code stops working only if the thing it points to (such as a website) goes away.
Can I see how many people scanned my QR code?
Not with a static code. Scanning it never contacts this site, so there is nothing to count. If you need scan numbers, point the code at a page that has its own analytics.
Can I change where the QR code points later?
No. A static code holds the address itself, so changing the destination means making and reprinting a new code. Link to a page you will keep, and update that page instead.
Which error-correction level should I choose?
Denso Wave, the inventor of the QR code, lists four levels that can restore about 7% (L), 15% (M), 25% (Q) or 30% (H) of the code, and notes that M is the most frequently selected. Higher levels make a denser code, so use Q or H for printed codes that may get dirty or damaged, or when you place a logo over the centre, and L for clean screens and short data.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
Download SVG for print and signage because it is a vector and stays sharp at any size. Download PNG for slides, documents and web pages. Both files are made in your browser.
