How to read the list
ISO 4217 gives each currency a three-letter code (CAD), a three-digit numeric code (124) and a number of minor units: the decimal places of the smallest unit. Most are 2 (cents). The yen and the won are 0, the Kuwaiti dinar is 3, and a few indexed units such as the Chilean Unidad de Fomento are 4. Funds and precious metals such as XAU and XDR show N.A. because they have no minor unit. Numeric codes are text, not integers: always store 008, never 8.
One code, many countries
The list has one row per country or territory, so a code like EUR or USD appears many times. Three entries (Antarctica, the State of Palestine, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands) are listed as “No universal currency” and have no code.
Data source and limits
This page carries a copy of List One from SIX Group, the ISO 4217 maintenance agency, XML published 2026-09-17 (280 entries). It is a static copy, not ISO’s own standard text, and it is not updated live; currencies are added and withdrawn over time, so check the current list before relying on it for anything that matters. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
