Sprite sheets · pure canvas · local
Cut a sheet into exact cells.
Enter the number of rows and columns. Browser canvas assigns every source pixel to one cell and exports the cells left-to-right, then top-to-bottom.
How to cut a sprite sheet
- Choose your sprite sheet image, up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels.
- Enter the number of rows and the number of columns.
- Choose PNG to keep transparency, or JPG with a white background.
- Press Cut sprite sheet. The cells are produced left to right, then top to bottom, and each can be downloaded.
Counting cells correctly
Sprite sheets pack many small frames or icons into one image to save requests and memory. To split one, count how many frames run across and how many run down, then enter those numbers. If the sheet is evenly divided, every cell will match the original frame size. If the dimensions do not divide cleanly, the tool uses rounded proportional boundaries so no strip of pixels is dropped and none is used twice; some cells may be one pixel wider than others.
This tool performs a plain grid cut. It does not detect gutters, trim empty margins, read atlas files, pack sprites or build animations. If your sheet has spacing between frames, cut it in an editor that supports offsets or crop the margins first.
Done on your device
The sheet is drawn and sliced by your browser in a sealed frame that cannot make network requests. Game art that is not yet public is never uploaded. The advertising on this page sits outside the frame and has no access to the image.
Tips
- Use PNG for pixel art and anything with transparency.
- Number the output in order when loading it into a game engine; the order is row by row.
How uneven dimensions are handled
Rows and columns are calculated from rounded proportional boundaries. That means there are no dropped strips and no overlapping source pixels. If a 1,001-pixel sheet is cut into ten columns, some cells are 100 pixels wide and others are 101.
The tool does not read atlas metadata, detect gutters, trim transparent edges, pack sprites, animate frames or create CSS. It performs only the requested row-and-column canvas export.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use cells that are not all the same pixel size?
Yes, but exact-size engines often expect a sheet whose width and height divide evenly by the selected columns and rows. The result labels show every output size.
Does the sprite sheet leave my browser?
No. The image is decoded, cut and encoded with browser canvas in this tab. No file is uploaded or stored.
Grid cutter only
Keep the original sheet. Re-encoding can change colour profiles and removes source metadata.
