Czech rodné číslo validator.

Check a Czech rodné číslo (birth number) against the rule written into Czech law, and decode the date of birth and sex the number carries.

How it works: a 10-digit rodné číslo must be exactly divisible by 11 (Act 133/2000 Sb., s.13). Digits 1–6 are YYMMDD with 50 added to the month for women; numbers issued before 1 January 1954 have nine digits and no divisibility rule.

How a Czech rodné číslo is built

The rodné číslo is the Czech personal number printed on ID cards and passports. The layout is YYMMDD/SSS (nine digits) or YYMMDD/SSSC (ten digits).

Month field (Act 133/2000 Sb., s.13)
Month fieldMeaning
01–12Man, month of birth
51–62Woman, month of birth + 50
21–32Man, additional series for a day whose numbers ran out (month + 20), ten digits only
71–82Woman, additional series (month + 70), ten digits only

Century: the statute defines nine-digit numbers for people born before 1 January 1954, so a ten-digit number with a year of 54–99 is read as 1954–1999 and 00–53 as 2000–2053. Nine-digit numbers are read as 19YY for 00–53; a year of 54–99 on a nine-digit number can only mean 18YY.

Check rule: s.13(3) says the ten-digit number is divisible by eleven without remainder. This tool does the division digit by digit and shows the remainder. Example: 7103192745 = 11 × 645,744,795, so it passes.

Rule check only — not a registry lookup

A pass means the number follows the written rule and encodes a real date. Only the Czech Ministry of the Interior can say whether a number was issued to someone. A fail means the number does not satisfy the rule as written in the statute; confirm against the original document.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if a Czech rodné číslo is valid?

Remove the slash and divide the ten-digit number by 11. Under Act 133/2000 Sb., s.13 the remainder must be zero. Also check that digits 1–6 form a real date, with 50 added to the month for women.

Why does a rodné číslo with 9 digits have no check?

Numbers issued to people born before 1 January 1954 have nine digits and, per s.13(4), do not have to be divisible by 11, so only the date can be checked.

What do the month numbers 21–32 and 71–82 mean?

Under s.13(5), when all numbers for a day are used up the ministry issues an additional series: month + 20 for men and month + 70 for women.

Does this prove the person exists?

No. It only checks the arithmetic and date. It does not query any Czech register.

Checksum only — not a registry lookup

This tool runs entirely in your browser. It does not query any government system and does not imply official verification. Nothing you type is transmitted, stored, or logged. Do not paste other people’s personal numbers you have no reason to hold.
