Swedish organisationsnummer validator.
Check a 10-digit Swedish organisationsnummer: third digit of 2 or higher and the Luhn check digit. Format and checksum only.
How it works: an organisationsnummer has 10 digits written NNNNNN-NNNN. Skatteverket’s SKV 709 says the third digit is always 2 or higher, so it cannot be mistaken for a personnummer, and the last digit is a check digit. python-stdnum validates it with the Luhn algorithm, as for a personnummer.

How the organisationsnummer is built
Skatteverket’s publication SKV 709 says an organisation number, like a personnummer, has ten digits; the third digit is always at least 2 to avoid confusion with a personnummer, and the last digit is a check digit (kontrollsiffra). A personnummer’s third digit begins the month, so it is 0 or 1.
| Rule | Source |
|---|---|
| 10 digits, last is a check digit | SKV 709 |
| Third digit 2 or more | SKV 709 |
| Luhn check over all ten digits | python-stdnum (se/orgnr.py) |
Luhn: starting at the rightmost digit, leave every second digit and double the others (subtract 9 if over 9); the total must be divisible by 10. Examples: 556703-7485 passes; python-stdnum’s 1234567897 passes and 1234567891 fails.
VAT form
A Swedish VAT number is conventionally SE + the ten digits + 01; the tool shows that form for a valid number.
Format and checksum only — not a registry lookup
A valid shape does not show the organisation exists. Nothing leaves your browser. Sole traders may use their personnummer instead, which the Swedish personnummer validator handles.
Swedish Organisationsnummer FAQ
Why must the third digit be 2 or higher?
So an organisation number cannot be mistaken for a personnummer, whose third digit is the first digit of the birth month (0 or 1).
What check does the last digit use?
python-stdnum validates the ten digits with the Luhn algorithm, the same as for a Swedish personnummer.
What is the Swedish VAT number format?
It is conventionally SE, then the ten-digit organisationsnummer, then 01.
Official register
To confirm a number is real, use the official source: Bolagsverket company information. Bolagsverket and Skatteverket hold the registers that confirm a number was issued; this page contacts neither.

Privacy and scope
This tool runs entirely in your browser: nothing you type is transmitted, stored, or logged, and it queries no government or commercial register. It checks format and checksum only and does not imply any official verification. Do not enter identity numbers belonging to other people that you have no reason to hold.
