CPSNL Physician Search Newfoundland and Labrador.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador keeps a public register of licensed physicians. This guide explains how to search it and what to compare.
Use the CPSNL public register for the answer. This page does not look anyone up and cannot confirm that a doctor is licensed.
What the CPSNL public register covers
CPSNL says its public register contains detailed information about all physicians who are licensed to practise in Newfoundland and Labrador, and that you can find a physician by name, licence number, location or area of practice.
CPSNL describes the register as a database of registered Newfoundland and Labrador doctors. Its public page does not list which fields appear in each entry, and does not describe a licence-number format, so this guide does not either.
CPSNL also notes that it is not responsible for maintaining or updating the separate Patient Connect website, so do not treat that site as the College’s register.
Open the official register
The older CPSNL search address redirects to the current directory, which is a reminder that regulators move registers. If a bookmark or old link behaves oddly, return to cpsnl.ca and follow its own public page.
Because the register can be searched by licence number, a physician who gives you a number can be checked in two ways: by number and by name and location. If those disagree, stop and ask the physician which is right before relying on either.
Why you would check a Newfoundland and Labrador physician
Virtual care and locum work mean a physician you meet may be new to the province. A register check shows whether the person is licensed in this province today, which a licence from elsewhere does not.
Employers, insurers and patients rely on the register rather than a name on a document.
Impersonator and scam check
- Search by name and location, and by licence number if you were given one, and compare every detail.
- Reach the register by the button or by typing the address. Do not use a link inside a message that asks you to verify someone urgently.
- General advice, not CPSNL wording: a lookalike website can copy a regulator’s logo, so check the web address is the one CPSNL publishes.
- If you cannot find a physician, check spelling and any previous name before concluding anything, and contact CPSNL.

Frequently asked questions
What does a CPSNL licence number look like?
CPSNL lets you search by licence number but its public page does not describe a format. A plausible-looking number proves nothing; confirm on the register.
What can I search for in the CPSNL register?
Name, licence number, location or area of practice, according to CPSNL.
Is Patient Connect the CPSNL register?
No. CPSNL says it is not responsible for maintaining or updating the Patient Connect website.
Can this page confirm a doctor is licensed?
No. It queries nothing and cannot confirm status. Use the CPSNL public register.
Guide only — not a verification tool
This page is an independent guide that links to the official register. TNAADO is not affiliated with the regulator. It does not check anyone’s registration, implies no official verification, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Use the official register to confirm current status; this page cannot confirm it.
