Quebec · Financial Representatives

AMF representative register search.

Quebec’s Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) keeps the Register of firms and individuals authorized to practice. This page explains what it is for and links to it; it checks nothing itself.

Short answer: the AMF says its register lets you determine whether the individual or firm you are dealing with has the right to pursue activities in advising or selling the financial product being offered to you.

What the AMF register is for

The AMF’s page states: “This register allows you to determine if the individual or firm you are dealing with has the right to pursue activities with respect to advising or selling the financial product that is being offered to you.”

The AMF organizes professional sectors on its site as insurance of persons, damage insurance, claims adjustment, mortgage brokerage, financial planning and securities, so the register is the place to check representatives across those sectors, not only insurance.

Open the AMF register

The register sits on the AMF register page. A French version is available. The AMF’s pages blocked automated retrieval when we checked, so the wording above was read in a normal browser; if the link ever fails, start from lautorite.qc.ca → Registers.

lautorite.qc.ca — Quebec’s financial regulator.

Other AMF registers are separate

The AMF lists other registers alongside this one, including one for insurers, deposit institutions and trust companies, and others for cryptoasset trading platforms, reporting issuers, VRSPs, transparency measures and credit assessment agents. Use the insurers register to check a company, and this register to check a person or firm that sells or advises.

Contact the AMF

The AMF page lists Québec City 418 525-0337 and Montréal 514 395-0337.

Frequently asked questions

What does the AMF register tell me?

Whether the individual or firm you are dealing with has the right to advise on or sell the financial product being offered, per the AMF’s own description.

Is the register only for insurance?

No. The AMF’s sectors include insurance of persons, damage insurance, claims adjustment, mortgage brokerage, financial planning and securities.

Where do I check an insurance company rather than a person?

The AMF has a separate Register for insurers, deposit institutions and trust companies.

Is there a French version?

Yes. The AMF page links to a French version, linked above.

Can I validate a certificate number offline?

No. We found no AMF-published check-digit formula, so this page does not validate numbers.

Guide only — not a verification tool

This page describes the official register and links to it. It does not check anyone’s licence status, does not copy or proxy the register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Registers change; use the official source linked above and contact the regulator to confirm anything that matters.
