RRSP refund calculator Quebec

A $10,000 RRSP contribution returns about $2,932 at $60,000 of income and $3,612 at $100,000 in Quebec (2026 federal plus provincial tax). Each dollar you deduct saves the combined federal and provincial rate at the income it comes off, so the refund blends the rates across the slice you deduct. Your marginal rate at $60,000 is 36.12% and at $100,000 is 36.12%; a deduction that crosses a bracket edge saves less than the top rate times the amount.

How the Quebec RRSP refund works

An RRSP contribution is a deduction, not a credit: it lowers your taxable income, and the tax you save is the federal plus Quebec tax on the income you no longer report. In other words the refund is the sum of your combined marginal rates over the slice of income you deduct, so it is at most your contribution times the marginal rate at the top of your income and is lower when the deduction crosses into a cheaper bracket. Enter the income you would otherwise be taxed on and the amount you will claim; the calculator prices the tax with and without the deduction using the 2026 federal and Quebec brackets.

Quebec residents file a separate Quebec return with Revenu Québec, and their federal tax is reduced by the 16.5% Quebec abatement (CRA T4127, Table 8.2). That makes the federal part of the refund smaller than in other provinces: the 14% lowest federal rate works out to 11.69%. For 2026 Quebec's rates are 14%, 19%, 24% and 25.75% with thresholds of $54,345, $108,680 and $132,245, and a basic personal amount of $18,952 (Revenu Québec). This is an estimate: Quebec-specific credits and the solidarity tax credit are not modelled, and QPP, QPIP and other Quebec deductions are ignored.

Quebec combined marginal tax rate, 2026

The combined federal and Quebec rate on your next dollar of taxable income, which is the share of an RRSP deduction that comes back. Each row is a range of taxable income where the combined rate is constant. Between 0 and the basic personal amounts the rate is lower because those amounts are tax free.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a $10,000 RRSP refund in Quebec?

At $60,000 of income the refund is about $2,932, and at $100,000 about $3,612, using the 2026 federal and Quebec tax tables on this page. Your own refund depends on your taxable income and any other credits, so use the calculator above.

What is the Quebec RRSP deduction limit for 2026?

The 2026 RRSP dollar limit is $33,810 (CRA). Your own limit is 18% of your previous year's earned income up to that dollar limit, less any pension adjustment, plus unused room from earlier years. The exact figure is on your latest CRA notice of assessment. The limit does not vary by province.

What is the deadline to claim an RRSP refund for 2026?

Contributions made in the first 60 days of 2027 (until March 1, 2027) can be claimed on your 2026 return. Contributions made later in 2027 count for the 2027 return.

Is the Quebec RRSP (REER) deduction the same as in the rest of Canada?

The contribution room and the $33,810 dollar limit are federal and apply to Quebec residents too. The deduction reduces both your federal and your Quebec taxable income. Quebec has its own return (TP-1) and its own rates, so this page prices the deduction with the Quebec brackets plus federal tax after the abatement.

Is this the same as the CRA's number?

No. It is an estimate from the published 2026 brackets and the basic personal amount only. Credits such as the Canada employment amount, CPP/EI credits, and income-tested benefits are not included, and the CRA assesses the final refund when you file.
