Beauty Calculators
Wig cost per wear.
A cheaper wig that you replace every few months can cost more per wear than a pricier one that lasts. Enter the price, your extras, how often you wear it and how long you expect it to last, and optionally a second wig to compare. Runs in your browser.

Worked example
A $300 wig plus $60 of styling and care, worn 4 times a week for 12 months. Wears = 4 x (52 / 12) x 12 = 208. Cost per wear = $360 / 208 = $1.73, which is $30 a month and $360 a year. A $100 wig worn the same way that lasts 3 months gives 52 wears and $1.92 per wear, so the pricier wig is cheaper per wear.
How it works
total cost = price + extras. wears = wears per week x (52 / 12) x months of life. cost per wear = total cost / wears; per month = total cost / months; per year = per month x 12.
Nothing about lifespan is assumed. How long a wig lasts varies a lot with human hair versus synthetic fibre, heat styling, washing, sleeping in it and storage, so the page asks for your own estimate. Try a shorter life to stress-test the result.
Sources and basis (checked 2026-10-05): arithmetic on the figures you enter; no price or lifespan is assumed.
FAQ
How do I work out the cost per wear of a wig?
Add the price and any extras, then divide by the number of times you will wear it. Wears are wears per week x 52 / 12 x months of life.
Is an expensive wig worth it?
It is worth it if it lasts long enough. A pricier wig that lasts four times as long as a cheap one costs less per wear. Enter both here to compare.
How long does a wig last?
It varies with fibre, care and how often it is worn, and there is no standard figure. Use your own experience or the brand guidance and test a shorter life in the tool.
What extras should I include?
Anything you spend over its life: styling, shampoo and conditioner for the wig, a stand, adhesives or a wig cap, and installation or restyling costs.
