Worked example

Initial procedure $600, touch-up $200, one touch-up a year, 3 years, no tip. Touch-ups fall at months 12, 24 and 36. Total = 600 + 3 x 200 = $1,200, an average of $400 a year or $33.33 a month. With two touch-ups a year for 2 years the same prices give 600 + 4 x 200 = $1,400.

How it works

Touch-up months = 12 / touch-ups per year, repeated up to years x 12. Total = (initial + touch-ups x touch-up price) x (1 + tip / 100). Average per year = total / years.

What this is not. Healthline says microblading can last from 18 to 30 months depending on skin type, lifestyle and how often you get touch-ups, and generally needs touch-ups once or twice a year, going back once the pigment noticeably fades. Letting it fade fully may mean redoing the whole procedure, which is more expensive. Microblading is a skin procedure with risks of infection and allergy; this tool is only cost arithmetic.

FAQ

How often do you need a microblading touch-up?

Healthline says it generally requires touch-ups once or twice a year, going back once the pigment begins to noticeably fade. Oily or combination skin may need touch-ups more often than normal or dry skin.

How long does microblading last?

Healthline says results can last anywhere from 18 to 30 months depending on skin type, lifestyle and how often you get touch-ups.

How much does microblading cost?

Healthline gives about $250 to $1,000 for the procedure, with touch-ups costing less than the full procedure. Prices depend on where you live and the studio.

How much is microblading over 3 years?

At $600 initially plus a $200 touch-up each year at months 12, 24 and 36, the total is $1,200, or $400 a year. Two touch-ups a year would raise it.

Is a touch-up cheaper than starting over?

Healthline says a full redo is time-intensive and much more expensive than a touch-up. That is why the schedule matters: waiting until the pigment is gone can cost more than regular touch-ups.

Cost arithmetic only, not medical advice. Microblading breaks the skin and carries risks including infection and allergic reaction; ask a licensed provider about your skin and see a doctor about swelling, discharge or a reaction. The number of touch-ups and every price are arithmetic on what you type in; the default prices are examples, not averages for your city.
