How the price list is built

For each currency the tool multiplies the base price by the rate you enter, where the rate means 1 unit of the base currency equals this many units of the target currency. It then adds the FX buffer as a percentage of the converted price, and finally applies the rounding rule you picked for that currency. Everything is done in whole minor units (cents, or whole yen) so rounding is exact, with halfway cases rounding down to the lower price.

Why a buffer, and what rounding costs

A price list is fixed until you next update it, while exchange rates keep moving. A buffer is a margin for that movement and for conversion costs. Rounding then moves each price a little up or down; the Rounding column shows by how much, and the effective rate shows the combined drift against the market rate you typed. Price endings such as .99 or 1,980 are conventions this tool offers as choices; it makes no claim about their effect on sales.

Decimals by currency

Minor-unit digits follow ISO 4217: for example the yen, won and Icelandic króna have none, so the tool rounds those to whole units and offers whole-unit endings. Source: SIX, ISO 4217 currency codes and minor units (List One checked October 2026).

No live rates. Enter rates from your bank, payment processor or central-bank source on the day you price. The example rates pre-filled in the form are illustrative placeholders, not current market data. Selling into the EU? Add destination VAT with the EU VAT-inclusive price list.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a price list to other currencies?

Multiply the base price by an exchange rate for each currency, add a buffer for rate movement, then round each result to a price ending that suits that currency. This builder does all three steps and shows the drift against your rate.

What is an FX buffer?

A percentage added to the converted price so that a modest move in the exchange rate before your next price review does not cut your margin. You choose the percentage; the tool does not recommend one.

Why does JPY not show cents?

Under ISO 4217 the Japanese yen has no minor unit, so prices are whole yen. The same applies to the Korean won and Icelandic króna.

Does this fetch live exchange rates?

No. Rates are typed by you and nothing is sent anywhere, so you control the rate source and the date.
