TACoS by launch phase.

Set your own TACoS target for launch, growth and mature phases. The planner turns each into an ad budget and a blended TACoS.

Ad budget = planned total sales x target TACoS. The targets are yours: the defaults are placeholders for illustration, not benchmarks. Set each phase to fit your margin.

Worked example

Launch: $10,000 of sales at a 30% TACoS is a $3,000 budget; at 60% ACOS ads bring $5,000, leaving $5,000 organic. Growth: $25,000 at 18% is $4,500. Mature: $40,000 at 8% is $3,200. Total: $10,700 of ads on $75,000 of sales, a blended TACoS of 14.27%.

How it works

Ad budget = total sales x TACoS for each phase, where TACoS = ad spend / total sales.

Optional split: if you also enter an expected ACOS, ad-attributed sales = ad budget / ACOS, and organic sales = total sales - ad-attributed sales. If the numbers imply ad sales above total sales, the planner tells you to adjust them.

There is no published standard TACoS for each phase, so none is built in. Choose targets that sit below your break-even ACOS or margin (see the break-even ACOS and profit after ads calculators), and revisit them with real results.

The Amazon Ads ACOS guide defines ACOS as ad spend divided by ad revenue. It does not define TACoS, so on this page TACoS means ad spend divided by total sales (ad-attributed plus organic).

FAQ

What TACoS should I target at launch?

There is no official figure. Pick a launch TACoS you can fund and that keeps your whole-plan profit acceptable, and test it against your margin.

Why might TACoS fall over time?

If total sales grow faster than ad spend, the ratio falls. Whether ads caused that is something to check against your own data; this planner does not assume it.

Do I need to enter ACOS?

No. It only adds an estimate of how much of each phase's sales come from ads versus organic.

Can I use it for one product?

Yes. Enter that product's planned sales per phase, or a whole account's if you plan at that level.
