What the official record means
FuelEconomy.gov publishes standardized city, highway and combined values, annual fuel-cost assumptions, EV range and charge-time fields where available. Select the exact engine, drivetrain and transmission because configurations can differ materially.
Official test values make vehicles easier to compare, but they are not a guarantee of real-world consumption. Weather, speed, terrain, load, maintenance and driving style all matter. For a personal budget, bring the official record into the annual fuel cost comparison and enter your own mileage and local prices.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the fuel economy data come from?
The record comes from the U.S. Department of Energy and EPA FuelEconomy.gov web services. The tool does not estimate or invent the official MPG, MPGe, range or annual-cost fields.
Why are there several configurations for one model?
Engine, transmission, drivetrain, body style and fuel type can change the official result. Choose the description that matches the vehicle you are researching.
Will my real-world MPG match the EPA value?
Not necessarily. Driving speed, temperature, terrain, load, maintenance and driving style affect real-world consumption. Treat the official value as a standardized comparison.
Does the lookup include electric vehicles?
Yes, when FuelEconomy.gov has a record. EV and plug-in records can include MPGe, electricity use, range and charge-time fields, but field coverage varies by vehicle.
