Ohio attorney registration number lookup.
To verify an Ohio lawyer, use the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Attorney Directory Search. Ohio is one of the few states where an official page states the number format.
Use the official register for the answer: the Supreme Court of Ohio record is authoritative, and this page cannot confirm anyone’s licence or standing. Open the register below, compare the details with the person who contacted you, and confirm with the regulator if anything does not match.
How the OH register is searched and what it shows
How the register is searched:
- The Court’s registration FAQ says that if you do not know an attorney registration number you may look it up in the Attorney Directory Search; the search form itself shows the other fields.
What the regulator says it shows:
- The Court’s Attorney Directory Search is its lookup of attorneys by registration number, name and location. The Court’s registration FAQ says that Certificates of Good Standing are issued separately, by the Attorney Services Section.

The attorney registration number in Ohio
The Office of Disciplinary Counsel’s complaint page describes the registration number as a seven-digit number that may begin with zeros and is located on many court documents next to the attorney’s name. If a number you were given has fewer than seven digits, check whether leading zeros were dropped.
Where to find discipline records
The directory page does not describe discipline records. Disciplinary matters are handled by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel; use its page, and ask the Court directly about standing.
Limits to keep in mind
- A directory lookup is not a Certificate of Good Standing; for standing, ask the Attorney Services Section, which the Court says issues those certificates.
- Registration numbers appear on many court documents next to the attorney’s name, which gives a second place to cross-check.
This page does not validate a number’s format or check a number against any list; only the official register can do that.
