Nursys nurse license verification guide.

Nursys QuickConfirm is the NCSBN lookup for nurse licences. Per NCSBN, it covers nurses licensed by participating boards of nursing. This page links to it; it does not look anyone up itself.

Important, up front: this is a guide, not a verification service. It links to the official register and never queries it for you. The live record on the official site is the only thing that confirms a licence.

How to check, step by step

  1. Open Nursys and choose QuickConfirm (the free lookup for employers and the public).
  2. Search by the nurse’s name with licence type and state, or by licence number if you have it.
  3. Read the report: per NCSBN it lists licence type, licensing state, licence number, active status including discipline, original issue and expiry dates, and compact status.
  4. If the board is not a Nursys participant or the record looks incomplete, use that state’s own board lookup (see the Florida, California, Texas and New York guides linked below).

No public check-digit formula exists for these licence numbers, so there is nothing to validate offline: a number that looks right proves nothing until the regulator’s record confirms it.

Why check a licence

Employers, patients and staffing agencies check a nurse licence before hiring or booking care. Nurses who hold a multistate (compact) licence appear in Nursys, which is why Florida’s own portal sends compact RN/LPN checks there.

Frequently asked questions

Is Nursys QuickConfirm free?

NCSBN describes QuickConfirm as a free lookup for employers and the public. A separate licence-verification service for nurses applying for endorsement to another state is paid; see NCSBN’s page.

Is Nursys the same as checking the state board?

Not always. NCSBN says participating boards have designated Nursys as a primary-source equivalent, but at least one state board describes QuickConfirm as a secondary source. For anything binding, confirm with the licensing board.

Does this page verify the licence for me?

No. It is a guide that links to the official register. Nothing you type here is sent anywhere, and there is no form on this page.

Guide only — not an official verification

TNAADO is not affiliated with any licensing authority named here. Registers change; confirm on the official site and, for anything binding, with the regulator. This page collects no personal data.
