U.S. · Nursing licences
Florida nursing license lookup.
Florida health-care practitioner licences, including nurses, are searched in the Florida Department of Health MQA license verification portal. A multistate (compact) RN or LPN licence is verified in Nursys instead — the MQA portal says so itself.
Important, up front: this is a guide, not a verification service. It links to the official register and never queries it for you. The live record on the official site is the only thing that confirms a licence.
How to check, step by step
- Open the MQA License Verification page and choose the board or council (the form has a Board/Council selector).
- Enter the nurse’s name or licence number. Use fewer fields if nothing is found — the portal notes fewer fields give more results.
- If the portal returns “No records found”, it points to Nursys for compact multistate RN/LPN licences. Try Nursys before concluding the nurse is unlicensed.
- Read status and any disciplinary information shown in the record, and note the licence number for your own file.
No public check-digit formula exists for these licence numbers, so there is nothing to validate offline: a number that looks right proves nothing until the regulator’s record confirms it.

Why check a licence
Facilities, families and staffing agencies in Florida check a nurse’s licence before hiring or accepting care. A nurse working under a compact licence from another state will not always appear as a Florida-issued record.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I verify a nursing license in Florida?
In the Florida Department of Health MQA License Verification portal. For a Nurse Licensure Compact multistate RN or LPN licence, MQA directs you to Nursys.
Why does the Florida search say “No records found” for a working nurse?
The nurse may hold a compact licence from another state, may be listed under a different name spelling, or the search may be too narrow. Try fewer fields, then Nursys.
Is this page an official verification?
No. It links to the official portal and cannot confirm a licence on its own. Always rely on the live record.
