Illinois real estate license lookup on IDFPR eLicense.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) runs the eLicense Online License Lookup. This page explains the form and links to it.
Short answer: open the IDFPR License Lookup, choose License Type REAL ESTATE, and search by name, business name or licence number. This page does not look anyone up.
What the IDFPR License Lookup form asks for
The eLicense Online “Search for a License” form requires a License Type. The list includes REAL ESTATE, as well as HOME INSPECTOR, APPRAISAL, COMM ASSOC MGR and ROOFING CONTRACTOR among others.
Other fields are License Status (set to ACTIVE LICENSES ONLY by default), License Number, Legal Business Name, Doing Business As, First Name, Last Name, City, State and County.
Because the form shows ACTIVE LICENSES ONLY for status, a lapsed licence may not appear; contact IDFPR if you need to confirm one.

Choosing the licence type
The licence type is mandatory. For an agent or broker choose REAL ESTATE. For an inspector see our home inspector page.
Format
This page publishes no licence-number format or check-digit rule, because none is documented on the lookup page.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check an Illinois real estate license?
Open the IDFPR License Lookup, choose License Type REAL ESTATE, and enter a name, business name or licence number.
Why do I not see an inactive licence?
The form shows License Status ACTIVE LICENSES ONLY, so a lapsed licence may not appear. Contact IDFPR to confirm one.
Can the same tool check a home inspector?
The licence-type list also includes HOME INSPECTOR.
Does this page verify a licence?
No. It explains the IDFPR form and links to it.
Guide only — not a verification tool
This page describes official registers and links to them. It does not check anyone’s licence status, does not copy or proxy any register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Registers change and licensing rules differ by state and city; use the official source linked above and contact the regulator to confirm anything that matters. This is general information, not legal advice.
