IFTA quarterly due dates.
IFTA returns are due on the last day of the month after the quarter ends: Q1 on April 30, Q2 on July 31, Q3 on October 31 and Q4 on January 31. If that day is a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday the next business day is the due date (Articles of Agreement R960.100). In 2026 the Q3 return is due Monday, November 2 because October 31 is a Saturday.

The IFTA filing rule
R930.100 sets the reporting period as the previous calendar quarter and requires a return even if no operations were conducted or no taxable fuel was used. R960.100 makes the return and full payment due on the last day of the month following the close of the period, and moves a weekend or legal-holiday date to the next business day. A licensee with fewer than 5,000 miles (8,000 km) outside the base jurisdiction in 12 consecutive months may ask the base jurisdiction for approval to file annually; an approved annual return is due January 31 after the year closes (R930.200, R960.100).
Under R970 a return not filed, or not paid in full, by the due date is late and the tax is delinquent. See the penalty and interest calculator for the amounts the Agreement allows.
Limits of this tool
It rolls weekend dates forward but does not know your jurisdiction’s holiday calendar. Mail and electronic filing each have their own rules for when a return counts as received (R960.200 and .300) and your base jurisdiction may have its own filing portal and cut-off time.
